Farmers’ market in Weiden

Weiden farmers’ markets

The markets in Weiden i.d.OPf. are very busy on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Regional traders offer a wide variety of products in the Old Town all around the Altes Rathaus. At the farmers’ markets, you’ll find everything you need to fill your basket with colorful produce, from vegetables and fruit to bread, eggs, meat, and fresh pasta. If there is a public holiday, the market takes place the day before.

The market’s history goes a long way back. Weiden’s market privileges are first mentioned as far back as 1331. In 1607, the market is then restructured. From that time onward, it is held in the “Allee”. When the pedestrian zone is created in 1984, however, the market returns to its original location, where it is still held today.

One of the special highlights of Weiden’s market is the large number of potato varieties, for instance: Valetta, Sieglinde, or Sissi… You should try them all here…
