Torflehrpfad

"Torflehrpfad" round-trip hiking trail

The “Torflehrpfad” is around 3.1 miles long and guarantees a lovely family excursion into nature. Passing bogs, ponds, and woods along the trail, you learn things worth knowing about the discovery of peat in the Upper Palatinate and specifically in and around Weiden, where this fuel was used for a long time as a substitute for wood charcoal, which was becoming scarce.

Children can go on a journey of discovery too. At the side of the trail lurk grim stories about the ghost dog, the end of the world, and the enchanted fish
